The Challenge
Ireland is falling significantly behind target on commitments made under the 2015 Paris Agreement. According to the 2019 Climate Change Performance Index, Ireland is the worst performer in Europe and among the worst performers globally. We believe this is unacceptable – there’s no reason we can’t be a global leader.
Trees capture carbon from the atmosphere as they grow, but Ireland has the lowest level of forest cover in Europe (<11% versus c. 40% average) and the lowest level of native forestry in Europe (<2%). We are also facing a catastrophic loss of our biodiversity.
Forestry Partners was established to change all this by empowering the business community to get involved and make a difference. Together we can have a measurable, meaningful impact.
