€5m Woodland Nature Certificate fundraising now open
March 31, 2022
On the back of a hugely successful release of our Woodland Nature Certificate and first tranche of €2m funding in 2021, we are raising a second fund of €5m with the support of Bank of Ireland and KPMG. This is again being done via our new partnership The Nature Trust (www.naturetrust.ie). Based on the interest received last year, where we were significantly oversubscribed for our first round of funding, we expect some interested parties to inevitably be disappointed to miss out this time. However, we intend to raise additional rounds of finance as we scale up our operations further over the course of the year.
We are ramping up capacity to deliver more projects and investing with our partners to ensure that we can realise our vision of creating huge new areas of native woodland across Ireland, all on a not-for-profit basis, for the benefit of local communities and the wider country and climate. This is not a straightforward task – seed collection, nursery space, etc. all need to be scaled up 2-3 years in advance of planting being done out on site, so it is a delicate balance of investment that needs to be reached.
We’re delighted to be able to continue our work with the support of so many people, communities and businesses around the country who share our vision and passion. This funding will enable a further 1,000 acres of new native woodland to be planted around the country.
